In April, don’t remove even a thread.
I saw April Snow of Hur Jin-Ho and it was super !
It is not a very nice story : a woman and a man are called in an hospital because their respective spouses had a car accident and are in coma. The fact is that the two victims were lovers and they had the accident together. It is rather a double heavy shock for In-su and Seo-Young who have to take care of her husband or his wife. The difficulty of the situation brings them closer and they fall in love each other with an improbable love which it's hard for them to handle : "What would happen if they had met before or afterwards? ", asks one of them. Perhaps then they would be the bad ones, those who betrayed, like their spouses. Perhaps, on the contrary, they would never meet each other.
The script is not very original; we already saw this story somewhere (Random Heart of Sidney Pollack). But here it is treated with more sensitivity. The actors are, moreover, very good and we have a real pleasure to watch their acting.
We perceive perfectly well the pain of the characters face to the discovery of the betrayal; we also understand with accuracy the ambivalence of their feeling about the accident: "You should have died. ", said In-Su to his wife when she is in coma, whereas at the same time he and Seo-Young as well have to look after his wife or her husband and to wait until they awake as if there is only a car accident. The complexity of the situation and the feelings are thus well emphasized; the setup of April and snow is rather successful: the mild spell of new love and death makes a knot together.

mmm... this person doesn't seem to quite like the storyline much, not original? mmm, maybe, it does remind people of Random Hearts, i guess.
but hehe, i love what he said about the actors' good acting :p
yeah!
p.s. up to this day, i still cannot understand why some people can't see the beauty in his acting in this movie. suppressed in actions and gestures, but great control and the sensitivity and real-ness of the situation and the pain was quite evident to me. sighs...
p.p.s thanks again for sharing this.
hi Camille,
same as bb, glad that the viewer noticed his superb, controlled acting skills in AS. Still going strong in 4 theaters!
AERA is a classy magazine, right? I remember flowerbossa posted an article from AERA July edition on Japanese fans activities. Thanks for doing this for Yong Joon and his family. We're excited and happy for you. Have fun!
oh camille, i'm so happy for you! thank you for your effort camille. ^^
Hi bb
I'm sorry, I think I have to check my translation again, maybe I did something wrong because the author likes the movie a lot.
About the story, when she said it's not a very nice story, I think she means that the situation is not nice for the 2 heroes.
And she said the script is not original because it's alike Random Heart but she also said that it's treated with more sensitivity in AS.
And yes, I don't know why some people didn't see the subtle and great acting of YJ in this movie. I am translating another one which talked about that, will share with all of you when i finish it.
Hi Frances, Jaime and Liezle
Thank you very much for your messages, I'm very touched.
And I was so excited last night that I can't even sleep.
Hi Camille,
I think they were just stating what they felt were obvious. Not a different story. But as they started to review the meaty parts they showed the positivity to it.
I loved his acting in this. I don't think any other actor could of pulled this off. I too didn't care for the storyline as it was so depressing/heavy but it was his best I thought!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
Hi mrs A
I think YJ gave his best in April Snow, almost all the French reviews I read praise his acting and like you, I don't think any other actor could do it better.
But what I'm sad is that a lot of people didn't see it and nor AS nor YJ got an award in Korea although they deserve it.
Thanks for dropping by.

and camille, you probably didn't do anything 'wrong' with the translation... i was just saying the author didn't appear to like the storyline, i didn't mean to say he didn't enjoy the movie :p
so don't worry, dear...
