Korean movies in France !

Wednesday is the day that movies are released in France. April Snow is still screening in 30 theatres, but the number of screening decreases a lot, some just has one per day.

Today, there is another Korean movie released : a bittersweet life. This movie was shown at Cannes festival last year and won a price at Deauville festival this year in action section. So I think it’s more well-known than April Snow and the distributor is more important than Pretty Pictures because it’s screening in 38 theatres and among them 11 in Paris and suburb.

But the most important thing is that this week, there aren’t any blockbusters or French & American movies released here. And the Parisian theatres which screen this movie are all at important places, where moviegoers are used to go to cinema. Ah, luck is adding to luck.

Next week, it will be the turn of Duelist.
I think that the Korean wave has already reached French cinema, I only hope that it will last for a while.

Then he has to make at least a movie per year, and as good as April Snow.
It's strange that Korean directors are more famous in France than actors, so why not Yong Joon as director like Kim Ki Duk or dir Hur ?

You are right, camille.

YJ works slowly, so it may take awhile for him to visit France.

I really would like to seem him direct, though. (Is it too much to ask for him to do both?!)
