[Non BYJ] Boys over Flowers !
It’s the first time I watch online a Korean drama with French subtitle and I enjoy it very much. I got to know this drama thanks to bb’s blogging and have to say I got caught by a young actor I have never seen before, Kim Hyun Joong.Don’t know why every time I see him, I’m thinking of wuri YJ, maybe because in my eyes they both have something very special that I can’t explain.
In BOF, KHJ plays Ji Hoo, a supporting role. But the more I watch this drama, the more I like this character.
For me although Ji Hoo is an introvert and quiet person, he has stolen the limelight from Jun Pyo. How on earth Jan Di could let go a caring and sweet guy like Ji Hoo ? Because Ji Hoo is just a supporting role so the female lead won’t fall for him ?
It’s the second time that I prefer a supporting role over the lead guy, the first time was Won Bin in Autum in my heart. At the end I dislike so much SSH’s role that I gave up on this drama. Hope I won’t for BOF, and here I will borrow some expressions from my 16 years old boy to say what I think about Jun Pyo : "Jun Pyo est un chioseur de première et je ne peux pas le kiffer" haha I can’t believe I say those words!
Back to BOF, I saw some mistakes which really made me laugh :
1) - in the beginning of episode 2, when Jan Di and Ji Hoo talked about Seo Hyun:
Jan Di : I hope she marries someone of royalty status or someone who may become president. Like Diana or Audrey Hepburn to be a princess who contributes to world peace.
Ji Hoo : She's just a model.
Jan Di : Didn't the French president divorce his wife to be with a model?
OMG, our president Sarkozy DID NOT divorce his wife to be with Carla Bruni, he met her after his divorce ! How the writer could make such mistake? Our president could sue them for that, as he seems like doing it.
2) article about Seo Hyun’s engagement in a French magazine :
Where is the letter ç from the word fiançaille ? How on earth a French magazine could do such mistake, like the sentence “Sa fiancée est Mademoiselle de Corée Top Model Min”, it's not correct !
Besides those funny mistakes, I think the stylish of BOF has done a great job. KHJ is gorgeous in his outfits. He is the most elegant among the 4 guys. The white colour (Ji Hoo often wears white clothes, he rides a white car and a white motorcycle, he has a white grey horse) is the opposite of the dark colour from Jun Pyo’s outfit and car and made obvious their rivalry. For me white colour also portrays the loneliness of Ji Hoo and also made him like a knight who always comes to rescue his princess.
I know that it’s the first role in a drama for KHJ and it seems that he received a lot of criticisms at the beginning of BOF, but it’s not an easy role and he’s improving more and more. In episodes 6, 7 and 8, I didn’t see KHJ, I only saw Ji Hoo, a lonely and sad Ji Hoo. It means that KHJ portrays very well his character now.
Lastly I would like to share 2 beautiful MV I found on youtube, hope the author won't mind I post them here.
It calls Jihoo’s love story Volume 1 and 2.

hehe, so you're enjoying BOF huh? (altho BOF does mean something else to us bae-fans huh, hehe!)
but jun pyo is actually the main lead, so KHJ (or rather, the role ji hoo) is the second lead... kindda sad, i soooo... wish KHJ gets abit more screentime. but hehe, will be honest there, lee min ho's acting really is better than KHJ. but KHJ has a special air about him, ya? as 'immobile' and 'unmoving' and 'quiet' as he is, i still love love love to watch him. hehe, actually his hwang bu-in (hwang bo) refers to him as the walking statue in WGM :p
talking about WGM, they two actually had to 'divorce' in dec coz KHJ had to go shoot BOF. their last epi together was soooo... touching!! i haven't watched it (am still watching oct now....), but i read the story and saw the screencaps. i think i will cry when i watch that.
you know, if you have time, i really really really recommend that you watch WGM. you can even just search for joongbo cut and just watch this couple and not watch the other couples, so it's faster, hehe.
as you follow the couple grow from such awkardness around each other to being so comfortable with each other, and that special something seemingly brewing between them, it's so bittersweet to watch. and, the ending, omo omo!!
i think i will cry when he told her future husband (whoever he may be, KHJ was just talking into the camera) about how he should not bring hwang bo to jeju for honeymoon as she will remember the joongbo moments... goodness!

Thanks for your nice words, you know, sometimes I kinda feel a little frustrated as I couldn't write all what I want to say in english.
Yes, I'm watching BOF, mostly because of KHJ. I agree with you Lee Min Ho's acting is better, but there are a lot of good actors too, and some way better than LMH.
So for me he doesn't mean anything, maybe because I dislike his character too (and honstly his hairs arghhhh). And you're right, like LMH, BOF is just a drama, and honestly it has a lot of weak points in the script, for example the 4 guys are supposed to be very close friends since childhood but I didn't see anything like that, or why suddenly Jun Pyo is madly in love with Jan Di .... so I often do the fast forward thinggy when KHJ's not playing on screen.
Like YJ, KHJ has something really special that I can't explain and makes me love to watch him (he he I'm glad we have the same taste princess)
Have to say that thanks to you and your blogging about WGM, I'm so totally hooked in this program now, I enjoy watching it very much, a lot more than BOF.
Yesterday I watch Joonbo cut on youtube with english subtitle straight from episode 19 through 27.
I've never seen a guy with a humour like that, he always says unexpected things at the right moments and made me laugh hard. What a guy !
In WGM, he is much more natural and is very cute, and I never think that a young guy and singer can be that conservative and caring like that, he really cracked me up with his comments.

camille, wait till you get to the later epis... the one at the roller-coaster is great, and then the one when the joongbo couple tried to matchmake the SS501 boys and the wondergirls, haha! and oh, that marathon episode was also hilarious!
it's so nice to watch how the couple became close and comfortable. and gotta say KHJ just got better and better in the WGM series...
hee, me too enjoyed the WGM series sooo... much! but i'm terrible, i only watch joongbo cuts, a few of the other couples didn't interest me at all. the ants couple quarrelled too much, the other couples just appeared too boring :p
but that link... sooooo sad and yet so beautiful yah? i'm at epi 34 now, and am trying to take it really really really slow coz i know it's nearing the end of the joongbo era...
hehe, KHJ is soooo.... funny, ya? and i love how he's so protective of hwangbo that he didn't like her to wear revealing clothes...

Like you I only watch JoongBo cut, the other couples didn't interest me.
And yeah, the more I watch it, the more I like this shillang kid groom, he has such a special humour, 4th D boy.

I've read and heard about this Boys Over Flowers for some time now but I haven't actually watched it via the net since I thought that it's just a K- version of F4's Meteor Garden(which I also love in 2003). But now that you've explained some of the parts, I will definitely watch it.
And I love the Sarkozys and their love story. Kindalike a real live soap opera. And Ms. Bruni is very lovely indeed with all her classy attires.
And like me, I am also at a great loss when my teenager son and daughter speak. Like nosebleeding homework(which means very difficult)and some very out of this world terms, hehehhehehe! That makes all of us moms scratch our heads and wonder where have all these came from, hahahahah!

About our president, do you know that he falled in love with his first wife when he was marrying her to someone as he was mayor ?
It's like a kind soap opera yah ?
But I think that his actual wife Carla Bruni who was a top model is one of the most beautiful first lady in the world, don't you agree?

Wow, wonder why he chose this song, wasn't it because he missed his buin (I love this scene in epi 17 when he sang it to her, so touching).
And seeing this recent interviews makes me appreciate him more,I didn't know he has gone through so many difficult hardships.

OMG, he cracked me up with his genuine question about how to kiss on drama !
He is really a 4D guy, it seems he has suffered a lot with the criticisms at the beginning of BOF.
So he's working hard to improve his acting, and he reads the script till it's torn, same thing with "someone" we know and we love, don't you think so ?
I'm translating an article about wuri YJ posting on your blog and translating by cloud nine but I still don't finish it yet, and it's also Joongbo's fault, I enjoy watching those MV about this couple on youtube so much when I have free time.

Actually I like to watch JoongBo MV and KHJ in special programs I find on Youtube that I don't know that much about BOF, I'm not really a BOF's fan, the lead guy annoys me and I'm allergic to his curly hairs.
Will try to watch the latest epi on viikki, but only the part where HJ plays, the other parts without him I always do the fast fw.
